The Sphinx TVed.
Originally, I named this house "www.kingdom.com"( the client's name can also mean kingdom in Korean). But he wanted to call it sphinx, since he observed affinities between them. The client, who was a computer programmer was sort of a perfectionist and was also a well read man of interesting character, not to mention his warm heartedness. A little pore measuring less than a centimeter in the column would make him sleepless and edgy. This kind of character lead to the change of the exterior finish in the design phase from danpalon( poly-carbonate) to aluminum panel. One day, the client visited my office and said he wants to try to put a lighter near the poly-carbonate, alas! it melted right away. And that was the end of that material. The site was sort of tucked away from the road and surrounded almost completely by the neighbors. And the client wanted to build maximum.
Since the house was hidden, the story of hensel and Gretel was put into to design in the first phase, as light pods on the entry way and as TVs on the balconies. This idea kept going until some difficulties were met with the budget. The maximizing of the houses made the common area smaller which devised a skip floor design without the intent. The kingdom house stands out, neatly well scrubbed and always fully rented.
